Solutions for broken stud for hood hinge?

If I recall the stud is welded to the plate. I think I drilled, tapped and loctited a stud in so I could use a stock style nut and look stock. No issues since.

Bringing up an old thread.. you tapped with a bigger size than the actual broken bolt right ?

I remember reading this thread way back. This is why I ultimately decided against the hood struts.

I read about this possibility before installing my mrt struts. This winter
I used a 3 inch fine metal brush in my cordless drill and cleaned the stud free of all the paint.
I taped the nuts up and a small area on the hood so I didn't scratch anything while wire brushing.
I then would back the nut off a little and tighten some then back it off some more. I'm pretty sure it was in mrts. Instructions
Anyway mine came right off that way with a 1/4 ratchet.
I recommend this method to anyone else that takes the hood off for the first time.
And the hood struts are a great mod.
