How many of you have been snowboarding? CSD's thread on vacation got me thinking... I was supposed to head up to TN this past winter and wanted to go snowboarding... however work got hectic while I was home and then ended up back here due to someone falling out. So I shall plan on this winter.

For those of you that have done it... is it very difficult? Any gear your recommend purchasing and bringing? (I'm guessing some of the rental stuff sucks) I usually goto Gatlinburg and rent a cabin... any suggestions of better places to ski/snowboard? Any info would be appreciated!!!

i board every winter, takes about a day to be able to go down without falling.
usually your ass and wrists are sore the first time, you get used to it.

Ober is fine for learning. North Carolina has better slopes/conditions usually, but also crowded and little farther drive. Don't be afraid to take lessons, it will help you out more than you can imagine. Just rent your board and boots first go around to make sure you like it. And get ready for a new favorite hobby.
