Roush has been doing Fords for years and did some AMAZING late 90's cars. I was on my way home from work one day driving down telegraph road in MI. They had 75 south shut down. I was in my 95 Cobra ( supercharged ) A red 97 with a Cobra R hood and some sick ground effects rolls up next to me. I jumped my car and he looked and smiled at me. The next light we went! He left me like I was pulling my E brake! The next light I caught up. Flagged him down and started talking to him about the car. IT WAS JACK ROUSH!!! When he first introduced himself I did not put 2 and 2 together. He said to me. Your car hung pretty good! I laughed and he then said he had toned that car down for the street. Him and his production manager were on the way to Matthews Ford in Oregon Ohio to show them the car. They were kind of lost because the freeway was closed. I lived right behind the dealer. I had them follow me to the dealer. They gave me their cards and told me to call if I ever needed anything! Sorry for the long blast. Just brought back a found memory.

That’s a great story. Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately there is not an aftermarket 8-rib balancer in stock diameter. The new GT500 has one, but I cannot find where to buy one.

Justin Starkey from VMP saw my posts on FB and reached out. He asked to see some data logs. I sent them and he felt an adjustment in cam timing was needed.

Took the car back to my local tuner who adjusted the cam profiles and it seemed to help. The belt is still slipping but I asked him to tune it as-is.

Final numbers on E85 with 21° timing were 700/600. I’m very satisfied. That’s plenty of power for this lightweight car.

You ever have one of those holly crap moments! I work for for a company that is partners with Roush, and Jack comes by now and then. I can tell you Jack himself has told that story a few times. Alot of times you hear these older guys tell stories of their youth and wonder how true they are. Then you are scrolling thru one of your fourms and hear the same story from the other person. Crazy makes you realize it really is a small world. Thanks for the story.

The idle wasn’t completely smooth while stopped. Found out there’s a thing called “fan washout” where the radiator fan messes with the MAF since the sensor is really close to the filter. Trimmed the JLT filter shroud to fit, now the idle is smooth as glass.

Grabbed some rear calipers from a Taurus with the 43mm piston.

Cleaned, rebuilt with new seals, gaskets & slide pins. Advanced Auto’s Paint Department was able to mix some paint to match my front calipers and put it in a can.

When I put them next to the old Cobra calipers for this photo I noticed the Cobra bracket has more support.

I painted & used the Cobra bracket with the Taurus calipers paired with Stoptech pads & rotors.

This 6-piston caliper, 14” 2- piece rotor kit from Reaper Brakes is really nice. Comes with everything you need to install. No modifications needed, bolt-on kit.

For bleeding, I tried the vacuum kit from Harbor Freight, no luck.

Motive Pressure Bleeder kit seemed promising, but didn’t hold long enough to get a hood bleed. My brother had great luck with this kit on his 350z, so maybe it was user-error.

Fill the tank with fluid and connect to MC. Pressurize

The bleeder bottles are great. 10/10 recommendation.

These calipers have 2 bleeder screws, one on each side of the caliper.

Had my brother help with the old school 2-person bleed method and got all the air out. Completely flushed system.

I had a serious buyer lined up. They were planning to fly out to Las Vegas and drive the car back to Georgia.

They asked if I could get the AC working, so I called a guy out to charge the system.

Got the Freon added, but the condenser wasn’t kicking on, so I bypassed the high pressure sensor and confirmed with my multimeter the sensor was okay.

It could only be one other thing, so I got under the car to check for power at the condenser; nada.

I ran a jumper wire from the alternator to the AC pigtail and the condenser kicked on.

:hell yeah:

Once I confirmed the system worked, I removed the passenger side wheel well to access the CCRM. Continuity was confirmed from my trigger wire at the CCRM to the AC Condenser pigtail.

Initially I was tied into Pin 23 BLK/Y, but that wasn’t working so I asked the question on a Coyote swap page and was advised to try Pin 21 DG/O which worked perfectly.

All of this triggered something inside me and I was starting to regret listing the car for sale. I waited 24 hours and couldn’t get it off my mind. I notified the potential buyer the car was no longer for sale. He was pissed, understandably. I feel for the guy, but I’m just not ready to see it leave my possession.

Upgraded the 4ga wiring from alternator to the battery with 0ga. Got a cool crimping tool. Honestly, I’ll do anything to warrant buying new tools! Lol

Also tried a couple more things to address the belt slip issue.

I noticed the HD tensioner was touching the alternator. Little grinding fixed that.
