I usually don't street race but I haven't had my Cobra out in quiet a while so I went down to our local cruising spot tonight to see what was happening. Wasn't much around....a few ricers and a couple of GT's but nothing that looked like Snake food. So after a couple of passes around the street I was headed out. I pull up to the stop light and a GT300 pulls up on my right and starts pointing behind me. I can't see what is behind my car cause it's righ on my butt. I pull away from the light slowly as there are usually a lot of cops around. I slip into second gear and a Black WS6 pulls up along side. I just continue to cruise slowly along waiting to see what the WS6 is about. The road in front of us clears and I goose it a little to see if he's going to go. Well he jumps on it and pulls out to my front bumper. Well I figure that is enough of a lead and I nail the pedal. I immediately pull even with him and then I hit third gear as I EASILY pulled away from him I waved bye out the window and all the kid can do is watch in stunned silence. I run through third and hit the rev limiter and then shift to fourth....NO WS6 to be seen. I back off and slow down the WS6 cruises up along side shrugs and gives me the thumbs up. I smile and wave and turn off at the next exit to go get some gas and head home. First time in months the Snake had been feed and man did it feel good!!! :D ;-)

That was Awesome!!! What does the KB Cobra have to it? I race a white WS6 in my SHO... but sadly the outcome was nowhere close to yours.... ;-)

Thanks! Really the KB part of the car is all road racing suspension and bracing. I love to take her out on road courses and let it rip! BUT, every now and then I have to go and feed her on the street! :D ;-)

As an LS1 owner I have to give my 2 cents and NOT meant as a flame. If the WS6 ALSO had a blower the race would be different. In all probability all the LS1 needs is a few bolt ons to compete. Again, not a flame. Good race!

Well, the race against the juiced LS1 is worth bragging about. But your 456rwhp vs a 320ish rwhp WS6?? What did you expect?! :rollseyes

Your kill story makes me

:rollseyes That is so sorry. If a ls1 owner with every bolt on and a 100 shot smacked around a stock cobra they would be singing from the hills and that would be cool though. And if you don't like his stories, don't read them. Sorry crybabys.

Well if the Cobra was the one starting the race i would suspect that the LS1 owner would be well within their rights to post about and brag how he dusted off a Lowly Stock Cobra....But I know you wouldn't do that! ;-)

BTW THANKS TTAFB_SVT!! :D

I have to agree with you there. 03's are pretty new and rare. LS1ers want any info this early on so any info is welcome. Though those kinds of posts are less and less. As far as an LS1 needing a 100 shot to compete...not true. A bolt on LS1 with no internal mods will easily beat a stock 03 Cobra. Pulley and chip however, is a different story.

My point to responding to his post was it wasn't a fair race and Isn't Worth Posting because we (the readers) think so what big deal. There is nothing wrong with them racing, but posting? For example I beat Mustangs but I don't post unless it's a good race (read: stang w/heads, cam, ect..). BTW the list of victims includes 3 svt's and a Saleen (don't know the model).

I'm not a die hard GM guy. If the timing was a little different and needed a new car now I'd be driving an 03bra.

Another thing, what's all this I'm reading about being afraid to chip and pulley before warranty expires when you have FORGED everything?

Good kill but what was he running, any mods? After any kill it's good to find out what they have to accurately compare mods. If he was bone stock then you would have beat him anyways, but with some comparable mods and rwhp then it would have been an interesting matchup. Good kill none the less.

So why do you LS1 boys brag about beating GT's? 320ish to 260ish?

It could be said about Stang owners "If we only had 5.7L"

Ls1 boys should stop discrediting the Cobra, though. Same logic, different day.

I felt a need to chime in since i never really do, but all I am saying is that you gotta run what you brung...period. For example if you goto race someone who you know gots you beat as far as mods are concerned then you can't complain if you get beat. You can't be all "well if I had this and I had that, etc..." LOOk I see it like this, if your willing to challenge someone be prepared for the consequences win, lose, or draw. Don't come up with excuses for your car because in the end I feel that you are disrespecting your car by making excuses for it....On another note what do people think about people who when they street race want like a five car lead and stuff like that...

Don't know if he had any mods... I didn't talk to him afterwards. I'm sure I'll see him again down on the cruising street again and I'll find out. I would HOPE he was stock 'cause if he wasn't then either A).He can't drive or B).Some one messed up the mods! I beat him way to easily. I've raced other WS6's and LS1's that were modded and it was nowhere near as easy to beat them. AND YES I did loose to one modded LS1 with a 100 shot when I was running 3:27 gears. He got me by 1/2 a car length before we shut down.

Really the whole point here is the kid thought his WS6 (modded or not I don't know) was bad enough to take out my Cobra (which by the way says Cobra S on the side...HINT HINT). He jumped and got spanked, he was cool about it and I had fun. I've seen similar stories on some other boards about GM's doing the same thing to Cobra's so I thought I would post one for "THE GOOD GUYS!!" :D :D :D ;-)
