Hey guys so I need to get the L to a shop to fix what happened when I launched a plug. 1 question I have is, is it safe to drive on 7 cylinders for a couple miles slowley? Will it keep injecting fuel into the cylinder? What would be going on with the ignition during those couple of miles?

Ok so Im freaked out because I need to smog her too... Been DREADING this part for a while now... I know it wont pass as is because I know my tune is rich. Im thinking about loading the 12# canned tune for the smog. This should lean it out a lot, they dyno for smog here but its a slow pull to I think 25 and 45ish mph, they wont get into boost at all.

What would you guys do? Im rather broke at the moment so a dyno tune is out. Its gonna cost 300 just to fix the stupid head anyway so...

What yall think?

Sounds like you don't really have a choice if you are broke, just drive really easy if it is close by.

Thanks, I aint broke enough to hurt the truck any more than it already is. Id like to keep the 50 bucks or whatever if I can help it. :)

Just unplug the electrical connector from the fuel injector for that cylinder until you get it fixed.

Last year I passed with a 6lb lower, ported blower, Bassani catback, upgraded 90mm MAF, JLP CAI, and custom PSP Predator tune. All I had to do was bolt on an OEM midpipe so all four cats could scrub the exhaust, and I passed with flying colors.

My tune was rich as heck too.

I passed with a conservative tune too Ant. Just make sure your exhaust, PCV, EGR, and MAF are all clean and working correctly, and you should have no problems. Unplug the injector to drive it anywhere or else when the injector pulses and the fuel flows the compression will spit it back up out of the cylinder potentially causing harm if ignited...

The smog place only needs to go about 15ish mph on the first pull and 25ish mph on the second pull... Stan

Running rich at WOT (open loop mode) wont effect smog if they dont get into the boost because the motor will be running in closed loop mode using the front O2 sensors to achieve 14.7 A/F, unless it is running rich in closed loop due to a bad O2 sensor. Unplug that coil like mentioned and it should be ok if you drive it nicely.

So would you guys load up the 12# tune to lean the shit out of it? Is there a downside to this in terms of emissions? Im not worried about det. or anything just really wondering if being too lean would have a neg effect on the sniffer.

Your tune will only affect A/F @ or near WOT. No effect on small throttle imputs at cruising speed. As long as the tune doesn't turn off smog features like rear O2's and egr sensor you'll be fine. Tune away.
