In the best interest of the event it's been decided to maintain the same kind of laid back atmosphere (including the lack of tech inspections ) that previous "SD" attendees have come to enjoy and appreciate. With the inclusions of the shootouts this year, we want to make sure that everyone knows that nothing's really going to change with regard to the format of the day. Everyone will still get to make as many passes as they want, against whoever they want, and everyone pays the same $40 per car fee, regardless of whether or not they choose to participate in the actual shootouts--those wishing to participate in the shootouts will need to bring some basic information (in printed form) about their car and have it ready for photos (5.0 & SFs has expressed interest in coverage so we need some info on your cars/engines, more on this later). At the end of the day anyone wishing to compete in one of the shootout classes will need to bring their best timeslips to the designated SD rep. (you'll find out by race day who it's going to be and where to meet them).
Basically, this is not a heads up/ladder format race; rather it's a chance for anyone/everyone that believes they have a quick/fast car to try and set a record ET/trap at one of the finest, quickest, fastest, and cleanest drag racing facilities in the country--not to mention the mineshaft mid October OH air and amazing track crew spraying the track down with gallons of VHT multiple times per day. At the end of the day we'll chart the results and declare the winners. We will be flexible with regard of what kind of tree we're going to run, we can change per the racer's request.
There *may* be a prize of some sort for the winners of their respective classes. Again, at this point there's no guarantee of any type of award, but we're working on it. Shootout classes are 4v N/A, 2v N/A, 4v P/A, 2v P/A all Modulars.
Regarding the magazine coverage...We're hoping that either Dr. Jamie Meyer or I are approved to do some event coverage at the October 22nd Smackdown. If you're going to enter one of the "shootouts" we're going to need some basic information about your car(s) (engine/suspension/driveline,etc.). We may even be allowed to do some more in depth stories about a few contestants so don't be shy with the details .
Please bring said info in printed form including your Corral/Modularfords/SVTP screen and real names to the race--or plan on doing some writing/typing at the track. Having those spec sheets ready will help things immensely on our end. Also, it goes without saying that a clean car looks a lot better than a dirty one, enough said...
I'm working on finding a decent hotel in the area (including a group rate) so give me a few days and check back in this thread for an update.

Thanks and hope to see you there
Andy
