Is it necessary to disconnect the battery for the ECM to re-learn itself after the silencer is removed?

Input would be greatly appreciated.:bored:

This has been debated before and there are 2 schools of thought. First the computer (ECU) is constantly "searching" for optimal operating parameters. In time it will self adjust to any mod. Second "resetting" the computer by disconnecting the battery forces the computer to readjust immediately. After idling for a few minutes it will "learn" how to most efficiently operate givin the new conditions.

Now taking this into consideration IMO removing the snorker isn't significant enough to warrant resetting the computer. In time it will learn. You'll probably notice a slight increase in power via the SOTP gauge but after a few drives it'll fade as the computer adjusts. Changes in environmental conditions will bring the fun back but it'll quickly fade again.

I liken the snorkel to a gateway drug. From here you'll move on to bigger, more expensive and greater impacting mods. Have fun

Thanks for the responses. We'll see what happens on a battery disconnect.
