shut off question

hey im sure some one has experienced this before, but the other day i was driving in my GT and the car just shut off.. would not start afterwards, would just keep spinning over.. this has happened once before and i just did what i did the first time.. i undid the battery, let it sit a min, then plugged it back up and she fired right up.. what do yall think this could be? fuel pump maybe? and also the car often starts with a miss, it only lasts acouple of seconds and then its fine.. i would assume that this would be a coil pack problem, but i could be wrong.. any info would be greatly appreciated thanks
btw, its a 98 gt non PI

It could be the pump. A neighbor had a V6 that would sputter and die at random times. Eventually it died and wouldn't restart. I replaced the fuel pump and it's been running along since. You could check the rail pressure to see if it's low.
