"SVO" mustang using the Ecoboost V6 with 365 hp, and a six speed tranny?

To me this would be perfect, the GT keeps the 3V V8, the GT500 gets the bosted 4v, and the SVO get's the ECOboost.

I would love to see ford come out with something like this.

I dunno.. things are kinda different now. I can't really picture Ford making a light-weight, more handling-oriented car like the SVO on the S197 platform.

NO. They need to bring back an SVT Cobra with a supercharged 4-cam 302.

Cobra SVT SC302 = 450HP

GT500KR SC 4-Cam 6.2 V8 = 620HP

My Mustang line-up:

Base 3.5 V6 = 275HP
GT 4.6 V8 = 315HP
Bullitt 4.6 V8 = 355HP
Cobra SVT SC 5.0 = 450HP
GT500 SC 5.4 = 540HP
GT500KR SC 6.2 = 620HP

I feel they should make a turbo 4cyl with 260

I feel that the V6 should have 275/285

GT should be made with 350/360 horse

Cobra 450/475

GT500 600/650

...and all models should let you choose what option of accessories (and or engine option) you want.

not svo per se....eliminate the v6 stang... do a turbo 4 ecoboost with around 275/290hp, 6 speed as the base...and open the aftermarket to it.......give the gt 380-400hp v8, and the gt500 550hp....no risk of an overlap in models, no real risk of the base undermining the sales of the gt......win

No.

I could give two doo doo's about a performance oriented v6 Mustang, and would rather Ford make a performance v8 Mustang in its place.

Don't get me wrong I do love the v6 Mustang as it is the Mustangs bread and butter interms of sales, and if it wasn't for the v6 Mustang then Mustangs would have gone the way of Dinosaurs and Fbodies.

with the state ford is in, i'm sure they're no where close whatsoever to even fathoming this idea...but I like it. However, SVO hasn't been around since the 80s...i'd think that name is written in the books...i'd probably be an SVT to try and boost sales.

Reguardless, ive also thought that there was a rather awkward gap from the 310HP GT to the 540 HP GT500. Even if it's not an Ecoboost, lets do SOMETHING in that gap, seriously.

I was thinking that it would be a more road racing oriented setup, shave some weight off of the car, maybe even do an IRS again. I would definitely be into this car.

The old school fans would have a fit if they used either the bullitt name or the mach 1 name with a v6.

My only problem with an SVO is that, like the original, it's probably gonna be pricey up to where it's gonna match the price tag of a GT just because it's a gonna be a special model with SVO specific parts such as: wheels, interior, suspension, etc.

I think it would be a great idea, but I don't know how much of a following the SVO name carries. I think the best thing to do would be to have the 3.5 EB as an optional GT motor, not just another special edition. It might bring in some new buyers (tuner crowd) and will help boost the fuel economy.
Hopefully ford is going to have some awesome engines to choose from for the mustang:

Base 3.5 V6 265-275hp
GT 5.0 V8 375-400hp
optional GT 3.5 EB 365-400hp (less weight than GT)
GT500 SC 5.4 V8 540+hp

In the future I can also see ford going with the EB I4 as an alternate for the base engine to help boost fuel economy for the big selling base mustang.

+1...on lighter with IRS (not mutually exclusive if done right). I think a TTV6 would make a lot of sense in an new "SVO". The "SVO" is well remembered and respected. Frankly, I'd like to see a new, non-Shelby Cobra above the the GT, but the EB TTV6 might make more sense.
