My car has 3.55s and I use the MT 305R45/17s on Racestars. At the 'strip, the rev limiter kicks in before the end of the 1/4 mile. TB closes and run is toast. I never thought 3.55s would be too low. Maybe if I had 4.10s. It's the internal gearing of the MT-82, isn't it? I have reset the rev limiter with my SCT, but.......

So, do i have to short shift 3rd and 4th and shift into 5th? That would suck. One more gear shift introduces more inconsistency. I'm just wondering if other guys have this problem.

If u had 4.10's it would shut down even quicker. 4.10's = quicker accel with lower top speed. I dunno what kind of mods you have, but I ran mine down the 1/4 at Darlington before I did anything to the car and it didn't cut off on me in 4th... mine is a performance pack with 3.73's...
Personally, I would keep practicing with it.

Also... 5th is 1:1 in the mt82. I dislike the gearing in it, I'd much prefer the ratios in the t56 road race version. You could try launching in 2nd.

WoW....I didn't know 5th was 1:1. I thought it was 4th. I misspoke about 4.10s. What I meant was, in the past, it would have taken 4.10s to give me the results I'm having now. It's the MT-82 gearing. My Shelby had the tremec 6060 and no problems.

I did quick research and the MT-82 is 1.32 in 4th. I think that's the issue. Looks like I'll have to shift into 5th.

How high do you rev it? You should be able to make it through the 1320' with 3.55's and MT82.... with 28" tires 133@ 7500 in 4th. Most guys are going to 3.31's for best results. I just did the TR6060 install. Here is a little chart I threw together.
