Have a small issue with my shifter knob. The shift knob (boss one) is stuck onto my gen 2 MGW shifter stem. I can not, for the life of me, get this damn thing off. Whenever I try to remove it, the stem just unscrews and both come off together.

Its the shifter knob, shifter boot, then the knob. The shifter boot is sandwhiched between the knob and the end of the stem (that goes into the MGW shifter box.

Anyone have this issue before?

cut the bottom of a tennis ball and slide the ball over the knob, then use a ratchet strap/filter wrench.

Or use a sock/filter wrench.

put grips on the rod to keep it from spinning

Yeah, I can. I'm thinking about taking the shift boot out of the console. Wrapping a shitload of duct tape around the threaded rod, sticking it in a vice and then try loosening it.
