I want to know why everyone thinks that 450 is what it's going to have(shelby)The cobra R N/A had 385.The new shelby is comeing out with better internals new high flowing heads,and 8.5lbs of boost. And this only gets 65 more horses? 2001 Cobra v/s2003 cobra 320-390,Oh the 03 was really putting 425,so on that I believe the new Shelby is upwards of 500 HORSES. :shrug:

Agreed!

I'm hoping it gets past insurance police...the "over 450 hp" advertisement. Remember when the GT came out, Ford originally said 500 hp...but later changed it to 560...which is still real conservative....I suspect 500 for the Shelby is more accurate........

The Aussies have the Falcon BA with 390hp/400ft.lbs torque naturally aspirated. And they already showed a supercharged concept there with an iron block 5.4 and 03 Cobra style heads, not the Ford GT heads, that put out 500 hp!!! Is the Shelby GT underrated? Do bears chit in the woods? Hell yes!!!! :banana:

A few reasons. 1) Static C/R was much higher on the '00Rs 2) With regard to making power, the '00R heads are identical to Ford GT heads 3) The internals aren't better, actually, they're worse by comparison to the R 4) It's going to be seriously under rated and detuned from the factory.

I agree the new motor will likely make more power than most people are guessing btw.

Actually the "new high flowing heads" are almost the exact same heads. The 00R heads are the 05 GT heads. Maybe just a little cleaned up. But not by much.

Edit: Whoops beat me to it :fart:

I saw a video on Motortrend's website regarding the hp issue, the reporter asked one of the ford reps what was up with the 450+ and he said : "they don't call it the GT500 for nothing" so, this thing is probably pushing out 500 hp at the crank.

450 = 500

I think the new Shelby will indeed be underrated. Terminators are underrated at 390 hp, but everyone knows that they really put out at least 425 hp. With more cubes, better flowing heads and a twin screw S/C, 500 hp is more realistic.

It may end up that way, but the original GT500 was far shy of 500hp.
