In a recent discussion with my mechanic I delved into available options for running a tune but avoiding the incriminatory re-flash history in the Computer. He mentioned that a few of his exotic-owning customers have considered and/or have purchased an additional computer for the “Tunes,” eliminating the need to re-flash the stock system. He also mentioned that the computers track vehicle mileage however, and it might not look right if there was an issue down the road and the mileage was not in synch after swapping the stock comp back in at re-sale/warranty issues, etc. …Does anyone know how this might work, and if the cost would be worth it? I’m guessing that it’s either 1) too expensive or 2) not worth the hassle.

From what you have just typed I've gathered that there is a good chance this alters the mileage of the vehicle. Which would be illegal and would definitely void your warranty if the dealership realized something was out of the ordinary with it.
So you avoid warranty incrimination but take on federal law incrimination?
