Search down- boost loss question

I believe I remember other posts about boost loss. When changing to a more efficient exhaust, isn't it normal to lose some "boost" ? I believe boost is backpressure dependant. Richard Holdener wrote an article in MM&FF but a MSN search couldn't help me locate it. Can anyone provide a link or share your experiences when changing exhausts? Thanks
