Anyone happen to have an firmware files for the old x3's? Mine appears to have bricked during an update and i called SCT and they said they no longer support that device at all, and wouldn't even email the firmware. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
I am going through a similar process. They updated my firmware and gave it a file system error only to try and get off the line as soon as possible. We were able to revert to an different firmware, but since then the car has never run correctly. Their answers have always been to try and make me pay for something or try another "fix" that would leave my car stranded worse then it already is. SCT tech support has been nothing, but terrible for me... Their tech support is BS. I would call them back. I have a SCT X3 and they were able to put on several firmwares onto my device (which caused my current issue). They won't email the files because "they have to stay in house", but if you let them remote in to your computer with your device hooked up they can.
I'm glad I went away from SCT, I had my old Xcal 3 brick twice both after doing updates to it. Once after spending several nights on the phone trying to get through to them I finally got them to remote into the handheld and get it going. The other time I had to mail the handheld to them and spend like $70 to get it fixed. I absolutely love the freedom Binary Editor and My Quarterhorse and Mongoose cable give me.
IF YOU HAVE A DEVICE WITH JUST AN X SERIAL NUMBER YOU NOW OWN A NICE CODE READER, IF YOU HAVE AN XP SERIAL NUMBER THEY SHOULD HAVE OFFERED TO FIX IT FOR A FEE. SCT NO LONGER HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH X2 OR X3 WITH JUST X SERIALS
Well I have an XP device and they won't do anything more than offer me a chance to RMA the device for $100 and of course no warranty after that. Plus I had the joy of a snappy tech support guy who "doesn't have the authority" to answer certain questions. You should also pay attention to the time you call because as soon as it says 6:00PM they will do anything to get you to hang up. What is you set up? I thought Quarterhorse and Mongoose were two separate systems? I want to do Quarterhorse, but it seems information is kinda limited for EEC-Vs
A quarterhorse is basically a chip that goes on your computer that allows for instant tuning "on the fly". None of that turning the car off to change the tune, you can make the tune change instantly. The Quarterhorse has a battery that can last several years but because of this its not a permanent solution. The Mongoose allows you to flash your ECM just like the your Xcal does. So you use the quarterhorse to get your tune done, then you use the Mongoose Cable to flash your ECM.
http://www.coretuning.net/shop Decipha at www.efidynotuning.com offers free tuning software called tunerpro. I know tunerpro works with the quarterhorse, I don't know if it works with the Mongoose to permanently flash the ecm.
WELL IF YOU HAVE AN XP DEVICE THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE TRIED TO REMOTELY ACCESS YOUR COMPUTER AND FORCE THE UPDATE AS THEY HAVE DONE FOR ME MANY TIMES, IS IT A 3000 UNIT OR A 3015? I BELIEVE I STILL HAVE THE FILES THEY REMOTELY ADDED TO MY COMPUTER LAST TIME THEY HAD TO FORCE THE UPDATE
I know this is an old Post but would anyone still happen to have the v1.2.142 firmware for a BAMA SCT SF3? Serial number starts with XP. Bricked on update.
n No they deleted mine on the last remote in they did for me, you should be able to just contact them and have them remote in to your computer and fix it pretty easily.
Yup took all of 5 minutes for them to reload the firmware. Thx for the quick reply on a 2 year old thread.
