ok well i was watching mythbusters last night and they were trying to get beer cold fast and thye mixed salt in with water and ice and it got the cooler temps down to about 25 degrees and it kept it colder longer and i was thinking wouldnt this be good for water to air intercoolers cause you could get more colder liquild in the intercooler and it would stay colder longer but would the salt harm the inside of the intercooler

alcohol does a better job than salt cooling things down. the enthalpy change for -OH is greater than NaCl

salt lowers freeze point, thats all. it is dissolver so wont clog however it will corrode everything, obviously
