Russian Su-27 intercepts US RC-135U

A Russian jet flew within 100ft (30m) of a US Air Force plane over international waters near Japan in April, US officials have said. The Su-27 crossed the nose of the plane and exposed its belly to show it was armed with air to air missles.

This is in addition to Russia making multiple passes over a US Destroyer in the Black Sea. Russia also seems to be ramping up their long range military exercises flying their Tu-95 Bear on training exercises. A pair of Tu-95's entered Dutch airspace in April and had to be escorted out after fighters were scrambled. I agree with the muscle flexing just seems like it has happened a lot more recently than in the past, it is not exactly a safe manuever to cross within 100 feet of the nose of an aircraft.
