I heard that you can buy the 88cent bottles of rubbing alcohol from a store and run it in your gas tank to raise your octane. I havent done this, but I was just wondering if it was true. Any suggestions or comments welcome.

Sounds like something a old timer would say, rubbing alcohol today is not 100% alcohol. We have alcohol at my job that will instantly turn your fingers to a ashy white if in contact with the skin, now thats 100% alcohol. Either way I wouldnt chance it.

If you want to help octain a little you can add up to 10% alcohol in your fuel without changing your tune. It also will help your engine run cooler. I run 10% alcohol in my gas in my vw, it helps the head temps... I buy it from the local racetrack though, not so sure about rubbing alcohol... Doubt its anything like what you would get from a pump.
