Ok, so its not really a race persay but I just gotta post this.

I'm driving home today in the NSX (rare I take it out during the day) and I see an 03 cobra drop top up ahead. I eventually catch up due to traffic flow and end up side by side with him, still in traffic. It's a much older gentleman. He decides to downshift and start lunging on me! Ya...lets race right here on this populated road for all of 30ft until we run into the cars ahead  At the next light, we end up side by side and our dialogue goes something like this:

Him: Hey man, nice car you got there!
Me: Ya you too!
Him: I really love those cars! I used to have a 330 and was thinkin about upgrading to one of those!

*at this point, i'm thinking "Hmmm...330? BMW? Was he trying to sound like a Ferrari owner and meant to say 328? 348? *

Me: Hmm, they're great cars.
Him: Ya, well I decided to go with this instead. It's got 500hp!
Me: Oh ya? What have you done?
Him: Well, it already comes supercharged (duh) and they changed the ratio on the supercharger and added a cold air intake and exhaust. The guy who built it has 650hp on his!
Me: wow, thats pretty impressive! I know those things can be made really fast! Is that 500 at the wheels?
Him: Ummmmmm...Uhhhhh....no, its under the hood.

*at this point, i'm thinkin "hmmm....under the hood...isn't that where most horsepower is made? Did he feel it necessary to tell me that his engine was under the hood? or does he just not know the difference between what Ford says the car comes with and what it puts down at the wheels?" *

Me: well thats cool...still alot.

At this point, light turns green. I was done talkin anyways.

We both got on the same highway and ended up staying close for about 20 minutes on the highway but never side by side. A few times he would get on it and I would do the same and i was right there behind him the whole time. He drove pretty crazy too. He did have the top down so that definetly cuts his aerodynamics down and at 70, 80, 90mph, thats a big factor. It did start raining at one point and I just had to chuckle.

Anyways, all and all it was a beautiful car, it's just the owner needs to read up on it a little more before he starts talking. I'm still trying to figure out what 330 he was referring to...and was he implying that I was driving a Ferrari??

Oh well. Can't wait to get my clutch so I could actually line up somewhere and run 'em :)

Oh well, NSX's are sweet. Whereabouts in town are you from?
Miami here.

I'm from Davie (fort lauderdale)

His car was nice! Very clean! Except the brake-dust ridden aftermarket rims lol. Still looked nice! He just needs to learn some more things. I directed him to this site. Lets see if he comes on. I would love to get a few clean runs with him when I get my clutch installed, just for shitz n giggles.

Where would you like, O wise one? :) If him downshifting in the only open lane of traffic and taking off and me staying right on his ass and actually having to back off a little ain't a kill story, then I don't know what is.

Ya, a little of both I guess. It was fun though...i love cruisin around town in a "spirited" manner with another fast car...although he was a little too wreckless for my taste. He must have changed lanes 5 or 6 times and ended up in the same spot as myself, who changed lanes 0 times lol.

So your saying you pulled on a pullied Cobra, driving an NSX with a bad clutch? Or am I just reading it wrong? If so that's some NSX you have there.

Ok, so if there is a bunch of traffic and get over in the carpool lane(i down shift first) and the ford escort in front of me gets over to, and I start gaining on it, then I can come and put this in the road kill section. So you said it yourself , you don't know what a kill is. Since I'm the wise one this should have been in the BSing forum.

I saw a sharp red NSX at the gas station on sunday. I didnt talk to the guy though. I'v seen that car around the area before though so I assume the guy lives somewhere around here. Had to have had an aftermarket exhaust of some sort. Had a pretty nice prrr when it pulled out.

For one, he was in that lane first and knew damn well i was behind him. For two, he had been trying me the whole time and we both knew what was coming up. We were doin 80-90mph in a 55/65mph zone to keep up with one another. So yes, if the escort driver was worth a race, kept up with you after trying to race you before and all the sudden downshifted as if to say "haha lets player fugger", then ya, put it in the kill section

I have I/H/E on my NSX and it sounds pretty good. I went on a club drive with the S2k club this past weekend and they said I sound like a 355, just a little louder :)

Look closely through the glass :D

My bad I forgot nsx are the fastes car EVER. IN MY opinion they are a peice of shit. I beat one from a dig in my stock GT(flow masters and a stereo). We raced til the top of my third gear and I beat him by 1 car, and he got the jump on me at the light.

Griffin: i have no problem with an impromptu sprint on the road. I don't know this guy, I don't know where he hangs out, I don't know his phone # or anything. It was more or less an explanation as to why I didn't run him. I will not go to some hang out on a Friday night and then go run on SR 84 or US 27 where FHP is hanging out like flys to horseshit. I think you guys are idiots for doing it like that. And what would be the point in wasting your and my gas with a 290rwhp car and a 530rwhp??

If you guys don't have anything productive to say, then don't say it.

Ironic they should say it sounds like that :) Cause I'v always thought the front of the NSX looked similar to the 355 (or should I say the 355 looks similar to the front of the NSX since it came first)

The only thing that turned me off about the NSX was (well the price hehehe) and its lack of torque, but I know Honda/Acura was probably aiming for more than just a straight line cruiser with that car. Do you happen to know what this new NSX will be packing as far as power is concerned?

NSX's aren't the fastest cars out there (neither are Cobras) but they sure are nice looking cars and handle very well. I wouldn't mind having one. That was a pretty entertaining encounter.

No clue what is up for the next NSX (called the HSC). There are rumors flying all over but I think the latest from Honda camp is a 3.5 litre with 400hp weighin in at 2400lbs (all aluminum...again) :)

Not sure yet though.

Hey, that wouldnt be too bad. Very sweet power to weight if it pans out to have that much power and weigh that little.
