Won't hurt, might help a little in cooling. All of the water wetter, coolant additives are just a water softner. What they do is reduce the surface tension of the coolant to allow more liquid to metal contact.

Just like water drops on the table want to bead up, the inside of your engine rough from the casting process and water does not want to fill the microscopic pores. The coolant additive helps break the surface tension so the coolant will fill the pores and this is how it acheives the increase in surface area contact.

Me personaly I would look into Evans NPG coolant. It is vastly superior to water/ethelyn glycol but that is a whole nother story. I use it and will never go back, the only downside is cost $32.00 a gal, and avaibility have to order it but always in stock. Some high end car lines use it also as another source.
