Rethread Struts?

Got a little problem with my stock Bilsteins... Removed them to replace the boots since I have MM c/c plates. Threads stripped on them. Can I get dies of the same pitch and just cut them down to one size smaller and put new nuts on? Would this be safe do you think or should I get new struts?

And does anyone know the stock thread size and pitch on the factory Bilsteins? Thanks.

Send them back to Bilstein and have the shaft housing replaced. You don't want to remove any material in a high-stress area like that.
