every service has a different scoring system for the asvab, 87 is good for pretty much and job in the af. im am a 1N251C -Intel, i have been in over 5 years ad and have not done a single thing i was taught in tech school. The job hasnt been hard. been stuck in Maryland my whole time in. Deployed twice. the TS/SCI clearance is a nice perk when transitioning to civilian world.

Not sure if I was mentioned earlier, but im 17, id sign now, wouldn't go to basic til a year from now, 4 years of college where I wouldn't deploy, then 1 year til im out. As far as training for basic, I know ill leave the state, probably like north carolina, and that's fine with me, its only two months and I get paid for it. As far as my MOS job, I wanted something that I could transfer to the real world, after I finish with reserve I wanted to build hot rods, and stuff like that. Army can't really help me there so I was thinking about being a truck driver or something so I could work for ups, fed ex, or something like that while in school. Any opinions?

Get a guaranteed MOS. I'm not sure about the Army or how it works these days, but when I went we had a guaranteed MOS. (I was an idiot, did not, ended up a grunt in the Marines, but it turned out okay anyhow.) The whole point of it is to get something out of it that transfers over to the real world.

i joined the military to do what your suppose to do.. fight the fight. I really wasnt to worried about how my army job was going to transfer over in the civilian sector. Im a 11B and proud of it. I learned everything there is to know about tactics and i love it. Now what could i do in the civilian side? Well pretty much any kind of cop job out there. right now im currently an instructor teaching soldiers, airmen, sailors who are about to deploy at a MOB site for Afghanistan or Iraq. This is not a bash on any other Mos or job out there in the military, so please dont take it the wrong way. I just enjoyed my experience as a infantryman and wanted to share this with the OP.

Well I signed Tuesday in KC, details of the contract are I'm Medical Logistics Specialist, got a $200 kicker, and 20K for college for the next 6 years. Not to bad, I should report to my first weekend of work sometime real soon.

On a side note I went to Chilli's on Tuesday night, my waitress heard I had just signed and gave me a free meal. Feels good to serve my country, and Im proud to do it.

reserve is garbage......i did 4 active and crossed over it is garbage. i honestly would recommend you going active, i had a blast when i was younger and single hitting foreign ports. may not seem like a long time but 6 years in reserves is a long ass time, most want to go active after about a year into reserves. i scored ok, i'm a Gunnersmate 2nd class (E-5) in the Navy, i love it. had i not had my son i would've stayed completely active but it's hard to have a family and always be gone, main reason i got out.

(btw been in 9 yrs)
