What's up guys....planning on replacing pads, rotors and painting calipers soon. A buddy of mine and I are going to try to tackle this in a couple of weeks. I usually use a c clamp to compress the brake piston when I replace brakes on most of my vehicles, but I'm not to familiar with cobra/mustang brakes. Is there a special tool I'm going to need for this project or can I use the same approach as I normally do.

Apreciate all the input, thanks

Mike

You can use a c-clamp to compress the pistons in the front calipers but the rear caliper pistons screw in and you will need a rear disc brake caliper tool to screw in the pistons. You can rent the tool at any auto parts store. Here's a link to what you need from autozones rent a tool.

You could also use this tool. It is cheap enough to buy and have in your tool box. You could pick this up at any sears or autozone.

Also, in the back don't forget to align the piston notches with the center pin on the inner pad. At first I was not able to the caliper back on, just because of that, half a turn on the piston and it dropped right in.

In front, as stated, c-clamp and you're good to go, but remember to remove the cap from the reservoir and putting rags around it is also a good idea.
