i was on my way to PARX casino today and long story short may have been caught by a red light camera (i searched and didnt find my answer in this forum). I didnt see any flash but i was kinda close to running it.

i did a quick check of the PA Dmv legislation and it doesnt mention anything about getting points if you get snagged by a red light camera.

another site i checked claims its 3 points, but i think that is for being ticketed by an officer for running a red light.

anyway are points attached to a redlight camera violation?

Some states do not, but I think some might. I'll see what I can dig up about PA.

Edit...looks like a 100 dollar fine with NO points. However, the PA code 3116 (red light camera) that I found states that it expires 12-31-2011. I cannot find if there were any changes since.

thanks for taking the time to look it up. this is what i've come across on the bottom of page 7 start of page 8:

http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/vehicle_code/chapter31.pdf

(4) A penalty imposed under this section shall not be
deemed a criminal conviction and shall not be made part of
the operating record under section 1535 (relating to schedule
of convictions and points) of the individual upon whom the
penalty is imposed, nor may the imposition of the penalty be
subject to merit rating for insurance purposes.
(5) No surcharge points may be imposed in the provision
of motor vehicle insurance coverage. Fines collected under
this section shall not be subject to 42 Pa.C.S. § 3571
(relating to Commonwealth portion of fines, etc.) or 3573
(relating to municipal corporation portion of fines, etc.).

yea thats what i saw at the very last page. that it expired 12-31-11.

although not 100% i take it as pretty good chance its no points. that is if i even am ticketed for it.

Yea those are opti-lights, they"ll flash when a emergency vehicle approaches the intersection. bucks county doesn't have red light cameras. Philly does though.
