rear axle leakage

So, I have this leak and I don't really know what quite to do about it. I'm assuming that this isn't normal. Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do in order to fix it (and/or how much)? As usual, the Haynes manual is no help whatsoever. I took some pix with my cell ...there doesn't seem to be any oil at the differential.

+1, looks like it was overfilled and is leaking through the breather.

I have no idea how much is in there. The gears were changed back to stock about a year or more ago (which is when the last owner had the work done). I just noticed the leak when I had to take the passenger brake off.

clean it up and check the fluid level and see what happens from there

it's the breather. Clean it up and keep an eye on it.

Mine was leaking kind of like that, but it was coming out between the housings. I cleaned it up and put some rtv around the gap, and it solved the problem. Yours appears to be leaking out from the breather though.
