really need opinion on these tires!!

hey everyone, i was in bad need of putting some tires on my car since my others were starting to seperate. these goodyears were in the garage and so i got them mounted today. when i looked at it they looked way to wide to be safe on the stock rims like they are. what do you guys think? am i ok driving/racing on these or what?

the rims are stock for an '03 gt. the tires are 275/40zr17 goodyear gsdm . i know that 275/40 will fit on a stock gt wheel but these just look like they are too wide. i know tires can run different even if the size is the same, i just wanted some opinions.

they'll be fine. I have 275-40R17's BFG KDW's on my 99 cobra with 17x8's.


You can never have too much tire.

thanks guys, it just looked to me like too much was hanging over the lip to be safe when the car rolls (corners).

A lot of people have placed 315/35x17 nittos on 17x9 and it sticks out about the same, you should be fine. I have never heard of a street tire popping off the bed of the rim but crazy things have happened. just my 2 c.

Go with Nitto DR 275's. They run a bit narrower and will fit fine on a 8" rim.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with them on the front but for the rear they should be fine.

i think i am going to change out the front tires and put stock size back on. i really do not like the way the tire looks in the front anyways. thanks for the advice everyone.

I got the same wheel/tires on my 03 GT. You will be fine, I got the same tires in the front, but the fronts are 245/45/17. Best tires for the rain.

Just make sure they stay right at the reccomended air pressure youll be fine
