Are radar detectors passive only or can you guys tell if we have one other than seeing it. Also I go to school in VA how much is a ticket if i get caught with one since they are illegal in VA? Leo's only please. Thanks

I am mot sure what the law is in Virginia on cost of having an illegal radar detector, if it is even illegal. Most fines can range anywhere from $1 to $500, with the average being $170.00.
There is a radar detector, detector. Most State Commercial Enforcement Troopers have these. It is a violation of Federal Law to have a radar detector in the cab of a Commercial Motor Vehicle. I believe here in Texas it is about a $200.00 fine.
