OK, after receiving my last speeding ticket(1 week ago) I immediately got a radar detector.

My brother has had a few Cobra detectors and I wasn't satisfied with them.

So did some research and found a site made by a guy named 'Radar Roy' called http://www.radarbusters.com/ This site is the best site for reviews and tests of Radar detectors!!

I decided to pick up a brand new Escort Passport 8500(red display) only because I got a great deal on it.

I love it!!!! I have been using it for a few days and I'm very impressed. It can even be integrated with a Jammer system called ZR3. ZR3 comes with two sensors up front and one sensor in back.

What kind of radar detectors are you guys using and do u like them????

The Passport 8500 is a very nice radar detector, but I personally love the arrows on my Valentine1.

how are y'all mounting your radar detectors?

I put a strip of velcro on the top of my mirror, and stick it up there. I rarely use it, always forget it.

I don't want to rain on anyones parade, but if you buy into the whole radar detecor idea, you are luling yourself into a false sense of security. The ONLY place a detecor is worth it's value is on the open road. Even then, if a cop wants to defeat it, they can.

I have had a couple different brands of detectors, and I can say with 100% confidence, that I have recieved many fewer tickets not just without one, but by using my head.

I have such a high number of speeding tickets, I doubt anyone would believe it if I admitted the number. (in addition to two drag racing tickets) I haven't recieved a speeding ticket in over 6 years, and I attribute it to a change in tactics, and the fact I moved away from Shreveport, the LEO nutthouse of America.

I've had a V1 since I purchased my cobra back in 1996. It was been recently updated. and I currently have two, one in the cobra and one in my DD.

A V1 will probably be in store for me as well in within the next month or so.

the guys I know who heavily rely on radar dectors always seem to get the most tickets. In six years of having my cobra, I've never gotten a single ticket in it, and I've never had a radar detector... and I got my car when I was 18, so I'm no old man driver. It seems like, unless you're going 80 mph down the freeway, its pretty useless. If your radar detector goes off in an area with alot of stoplights, a lower speed limit, and not alot of open road, its usually too late.

I have the SOLO2, and I drive like a bat out of hell. No ticket yet, and it has a very long range. The only reason I do not have a V-1 is because the look like piss, and I just don't want anything that ugly taking away from everything else in the car. I have messed around with the V-1 in the past, and to be honest I could care less what direction the radar or laser is coming from. I am going to be slowing down no matter what. If V-1 ever gets his head out of his ass and builds a better looking unit I will switch over again.

I used to have a radar detector but after awhile I started wondering what the point in having it was. Every time I drove by a shopping center, it would go off and I'd hit the brakes suddenly.

If you are driving on a road without any cars in front of you, the radar that your detector picks up will be that of the cop who just figured out how fast you are going. Plus, it doesn't work if you are on a freeway and a highway patrol car is pacing you while hiding in a pack of cars.

Why not just do a google search for all the speed traps in your city and avoid speeding in those areas? I used to work in a city that had tons of speed traps. I knew where all of them were and knew were I could and could not speed.
