Have any of you seen the show on Spike called Bullrun? Since it is a timed event on public road ways, is this not illegal? From what I read here from on the forum, any timed event or speed contest even if the speed limit has not been broken is illegal and could result in a ticket, jail & car impounded?
If this is true, how can they show this on TV?

Just curious.

Those races are all sanctioned events. Roads are closed to traffic for the period of the race and there ARE penalties for esscesive speed in at least some of them.

Look them up on the internet and read the rules some of the others are :

Silver State Classic in Nevada
Big Bend in Texas

and while not on state roads another fun one is Road America.


EDITED TO ADD: ok My bad .. I made some assumptions that were well totally off based. The above does NOT apply to bull run but does apply to the question in general .. My apologies

Illegal acts can be shown on TV.

I would bet if someone were to dig a little deeper they would uncover the disclaimers.
