Met a nice guy in Denton last night with a 03 with pulley and exhaust and drag radials and I won. We lined up and here is the time:

Him:
RT = .3554 RED LIGHT - I Won right there
60' = 1.8358
330' = 5.0147
660' = 7.7065
MPH = 92.01

Me:
RT = .5251
60' = 1.8785
330' = 5.2023
660' = 7.9548
MPH = 89.48

With him having the jump I was suprised he didnt pull more. He had about a car on me but I actually was quicker in the 330' to 660'. He was a cool guy with a high 11 car.

I also raced a viper in which I red lighted buy .3 he redlighted by .1 something must have messed up on the lights cause I left on the 3rd yellow not the first. Final time was 7.70 for the viper 7.93 for me. He didnt pull much either .07 on the 330 to 660 and he was only 1.6 mphs faster 92 to 90.4. The Cobra and Viper would have been a great race but they never lined up.

Both of these races they had the better hooking lane. (Thats my excuse) Actually they were both realy good drivers. To bad Dave with the bolton Z06 wasnt there he would have beat them both with 7.6's at 95.

Overall fun cant wait to get he electric cutouts that should put me right there with a 91+ mph. My best mph was 90.87. Not bad for a car that dynos less than 340!

Glad you had fun

Race him in the quarter and see how many cars he pulls you from 660 - 1320. His 1/8 mile trap speed advantage will only get larger. There is a difference between quick and fast...

I hate to tell you this but with 420+rwhp to my 340rwhp he would have only pulled me maybe a half to a full car. He would have trapped 115-118 while I would trapped 112-113 and he had another shift I did not! The Cobra was not pulling me but maybe inching forward at 660 so I dont think he would have gained much. But what do I know, I have only raced 1 at the track in the 1/8th with a good driver the other 5 or so I raced the 1/4 I beat by more than .3 to .9. A good driver with a pulley and exhaust can run with a bolton Z06 but the Z06 will trap higher.

Then he's running an awfully large pulley (given the low RWHP: there are alot of cars between 400 - 420 RWHP without a chip/pulley), since there are several members here with 2.93s trapping 120+ and one of our moderators with a 2.8 traps 125. 2.93 and 2.80 cars are more like 450 - 480 RWHP. Your 112-113 trap is right about where a stock pulley'd car with intake, mid pipe and catback does, in good air, on F1s. Add the pulley and chip (4 - 6 p.s.i.) and it goes over well 120, especially on DRs.

Don't get me wrong, your car IS quick (due to the lighter weight, headers, cam, UDPs, stall converter and gears), but a properly set-up and driven pulley/chipped Cobra is fast. :thumbsup:

What do you expect he has a stalled C5, there was a guy at HRP last weekend running a stall, 315 Drags and a Cat-Back and he was running 12.4@108. We meet up with him at a gas station after the track closed and my buddies Lid and Cat-Back 2001 WS6 put a whooping on him from a 30 roll, but from a stop, it was all Corvette. And if you have a cam, your RWHP is really low.

If he goes 118 and you go 113 in the 1/4, the margin is gonna be more than a car to a car and a half.

My trap speed at 112 and race weight of 3500 calculates out to a 360-370 rwhp. The dyno does not like a stall and gear change as well as drag radials at 20 psi. It will show 340 when the actual rwhp is higher.

How were you quicker from 330' to 660'? He went from 330 to 660 in 2.6918 secs and you went from 330' to 660' in 2.7525 sec! So how exactly were you quicker?

Maybe he had a wing and some stickers, that usually makes up for it :shrug:

Sorry my bad! I was really tired when I wrote that. You guys need to lighten up, if he didnt red light by .2 thats going on the second yellow, he would have beaten me by a half car. Quick car and I was impressed, cause I thought I would win. I guess a 80rwhp disadvantage is a little much to overcome!

I forgot to add I do have stickers all over my vette with the big ass wing, I should have one!

You guys keep believing that the Cobra is gods gift will be sad when you lose, there is always something faster.

Was just sarcasm, i was assuming it was a typo on your part. Just a little levity on a rainy Monday Morning

I don't know. What do you say to this besides "nice death?" Unless this was a bonified sanctioned heads-up race, who cares about the red light?

No flame here, just a spark. I can't imagine going into a Vette Forum and saying, "Hey I beat a Z06 because he redlighted."

How much horsepower does your car really have? Who cares? All that matters is that its fast. Nice times.
