Quick muffler question....

This is for my Galaxie. What makes more power, a larger muffler (say 18 in.) or smaller (14 in.)? Either one will fit, both same diameter inlet/outlet.

If you go with a Magnaflow it wont make any difference as they are straight through. The only differnce is that the 18" would be quieter then the 14". I would go with dual
14"s if it was mine though.

Thanks, she's almost done! Getting VERY close, i think i've made the last order to summit today, mostly exhaust stuff. I went with the 14 in.

My dad has a 1963 1/2 Galaxie. He has just the Flowmasters 40's 2 chambered on it with 3" inlet/outlet. It's dumped after the mufflers. Makes good power and sounds great. He also has Hooker longtube headers.
