Questions regarding break-in procedures for new heads?

Is there a break-in period required for new heads? Heat cycling?


Also, I was running Mobil 1 synt 5w 30 for 10.000 miles. I am sure that the dealership just filled it up with conventional 5W 20. Will it be OK to run the car for a few thousand miles with the dif. weight of oil and then go back to 5W30 syth.? SOmeone told me a while back that if you swich the weight of the oil and go back to another weight, that you might spin a bearing

The head thing I have no idea, wish I could help. The oil thing I think you are fine with going back to full synthetic next oil change. :beer:

I doubt it. I usually run 20 weight during the winter then go to 30 in the summer. :beer:

I did, but it did not mention about changing weights back and forth. It was a good article though regarding the comparison between sytnetics and conventional oil. How many miles do you have on the new heads? I hope that they are still TICK FREE!!
