I tihnk it is a 351 windsor. The intake manifold looks to be an edelbrock performer rpm. That intake matched the one for a 351 windsor.

The bolt pattern is very similar, very hard to tell.
The performer for the 289-302 looks almost the same.

Main difference is the water return to the upper radiator hose.
The 351 is flat on the intake, the 302 comes off the front like this one. Unless that is a 90deg elbow bolted on but it looks like part of the intake to me.
But I'm on a small monitor right now so it's hard to tell.

My guess right now is 302.

Take a look at this:

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/manifolds/ford_sb_perf-rpm.shtml

See the hole on the windsor intake right next to the edlebrock writing? The 302 doesn't have that hole. The intake int he attached pic has that hole.

Too bad the crappy used car guy doesn't know what is in the car.

I believe you are correct, I also stand corrected on the water return
For certain years the 351w manifold did have the front mount return.

I appreciate your help...the engine and tranny appear to be realtively new..minus the dirt on them. Might be a nice bonus with the parts on the car.

I would also concur that it is a 351w. If you look at the manifold for the 289/302 notice how close the mounting bolt holes are to the carb base. Then look at the 351 manifold. See how wide it is?

+1 to that worsedog. That can be attributed to the height of the 351 over the 302. That's essentially the only difference between the 2, and the reason why almost everything is interchangeable except the pushrods.
