Question for convertable owners

I'm having trouble with the metal trim piece that wraps around the opening for the convertible top. I regularly use Ragg Topp cleaner and sealer, but I seem to always get a little over spray or wiping marks from my application on this piece. It makes a greasy mess, and I don't want to put anything on it that will harm the black finish.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to clean this piece? I'd like to stay away from mail order if possible, using something that can be bought at a common auto parts store like Autozone, Advance, Wal Mart or such...

I use basic car wash on my convertible top and the same for this black peice. With it being metal, im not so sure there will be anything in particular that does well for it. Mine is still in good condition just washing it from time to time.
