Can anyone help refernce excessive front and back play in the shifter of my daughter's 99 CSVT? Seems excessive, shifter doesn't jump out of gear or anything but while in any gear, I can move the shift lever three or four inches before it stops. Is there any adjustment? or is this wear and tear issue. Car has 85K on it. Please advise.

I have the same problem (thats actually my thread that was referenced :rolling:). Like everyone said, checked the bushing's first (the one on the shifter and the one under the hood), and then the cables and then go from there

I just took my up to ford to get the same thing done and they charged me $120 but they made it too tight so now it pops out of first and the reverse lights dont come on. niiice. But its a rather easy fix if you have the tool to adjust
