I was pulled over this morning for, "failure to obey a traffic control device", essentially I turned right on red at an intersection where I wasn't supposed to. I was in a strange part of downtown Tempe, and apparently didn't see the no turn on red sign. :nonono:

I was wondering how a go about speaking with someone to agree to plead guilty to a lesser offense (one that doesn't impose any points on my record). I currently have a perfect driving record with absolutely 0 moving violations and I would like to keep it that way. This ticket comes with two points, and a $110 dollar fine.

Before you recommend driving school; in the state of AZ you are only allowed to go to driving school once every 2 years. I went last summer to get out of a speeding ticket, so I am ineligible to attend again.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You can try to call the prosecutor's office and talk with him about pleading guilty to a lesser offense and paying that fine. But if they are busy they usually tell you to show up to court on the date given and arrange to speak to the prosecutor before court.

Good Luck.

Tell it to the Judge

Given your record..I think he'll cut you slack...One thing to keep in mind is that judges...unlikes our desire to be able to "seal deals" DOES NOT have to agree to any plea...It is his/her's court. Tell them the truth..They're human and will look at your lack of record and understand...

Hey I also got a "fail to obey traffic control device" ticket. I plead not guilty because The light turned as i got right up to it, and i didn't have time to stop unless i dynamited the brakes. I cleared the intersection before it turned red, and i know this because i looked up as i was driving under it and it was still yellow. Is there anything i can say to the judge that would make me sound more believable and less like I am whining about the ticket? I would just pay it, but its 85.00, and gets points on my license.
