My interior light in the boot has never worked since I bought the car, but I didn't mind enough to check it, I rarely use the hatchback area, at least in the dark. But I decided to replace it today. To my surprise when I popped out the lens that's all that was there. No wires or socket.

Was having it lit an option in 2002? My searches turned up other SVT's having it lit, and my wife's 2005 has it lit.

I pulled out the cover over the subwoofer and there were no wires or anything indicating there had ever been a light there.
Here's all I have.

Thanks.

Never mind. :D

Once my wife got home I checked her car and found where the wires come from. I went fishing and found mine had been shoved all the way up into the frame/body, but was able to retrieve them...with the bulb still working! LOL

Why someone did that I'll never know.

Odds are they did it because it can be frustrating getting the socket to stay in place in the clear plastic retainer.

Well, that's possible. If you see the photo the socket holder is broken.
I got it in pretty easily, but time will tell if it stays.

Mines broken too, odds are most of them are. As long as you don't move the panel around the light stays in place just fine.
