I'm going to be changing my factory H-pipe for a catted BBK X-pipe on my '96 Cobra. By going from 4 to 2 cats, have any of you had to tune out a CEL? I'm not installing headers, just going to a catted X with a new cat back exhaust system. Thanks for any replies!

Simply out of curiosity. Why wouldn't you be going to an aftermarket H?

To get a catted H, I'd have to buy the Magnaflow unit with 4 cats and the resonators; at least, that's the only one I can find. Way too much money. The BBK X only has two cats and is reasonably priced. It has the bungs for all of the O2 sensors, but I'm thinking CEL due to no "pre-cats", etc.

Plug and play MIL eliminators seem to have gone the way of the dinosaur ever since the tuning crack down. Its hit or miss finding them in stock places, but if you cant, there are a number of instructions floating around the forums for making them yourself. Basically are just wiring a resistor into the return signal.

Got my new exhaust (BBK catted X and their Varitune cat back) installed and so far no CEL. Thanks for everyone's comments.
