Question about locked sct

A friend of mine is selling me his locked sct tuner and my question is if I buy it can I unlock it and use it in my car? If possible to unlock it how much do they charge to get it unlocked. thank you for the help guys.

another question is I have a auto and what would work best a converter or 4.10 gears? im starting to mod up my car and want to get the best advise on what to start adding first. Im a average joe so Im not going to go all out in one day. It will take me time but at least to know what to add going from there.

For the SCT, it's 150 (I think) if you send it to SCT to pay to have it unlocked. I paid 50 bucks for mine and sent it to SCT for them to unlock it. 200 bucks for a newish SCT is fine by me.

Haven't tuned it yet. Awaiting the arrival of cold hard boost that is due to arrive shortly

Yes, it's a $150 fee to get SCT to unlock a tuner. Gotta call them, set up a RMA and mail it in to be unlocked.
