Question about Diff Seals

Hi All,

Is it difficult to change the axle seals in the IRS differential? I recently pulled the diff to reseal the rear cover, install MM bushings and BF brace. I figured since I'm in there I'll install new axle seals too.

if the seal is bad then its letting crud in which may affect the bearing. slide hammer/seal puller to get the seal out, and a seal driver to drive the seal back in. no big woop. especially if you have the thing on the workbench already. servicing the bearing is the same thing - slide hammer to get it out and a small driver to knock it in.

ford racing sells the bearings and seals together in a 4pc kit for like $22.

The IRS bearing and seal kit is pn M-4413-A, I recently installed it when I rebuilt my pumpkin.

If they aren't leaking, don't replace them!
