So today I was plastic dipping my wheels, pull off the left front wheel to find this (link below). I'm running Nitto NT555 Extreme Performance tires size 275/40R17 up front. I turned the wheel lock to lock but couldn't find any place that the tire would be rubbing. I do have coil overs and it is lowered. I'm thinking that it's a defective tire seeing as they've only been on the car a year and a half and have less then 10k miles on them and I had it on a lift a month ago and it was fine. Has anyone ever seen this with Nitto tires before?

Holy shit that looks like you would have heard something tearing up like that. Could it be once you hit a bump it compresses the suspension enough to rub something? Any signs on the suspension parts?

Looks like tire is bad. .

if it was rubbing all of the tread would show it touched..

those are chunks missing..

What does other side look like

I bought, and have been running, a set of used OEM Goodyears that had a pattern like that. It was on the outside edge of the tire. I had often wondered what might have done it - cut during tire mounting perhaps? Could have also been from the previous car the tires/wheels were installed on, in my case.
