Primary vs. secondary timing chain tensioner failures

Hey guys I was wondering if the secondarys fail as much as the primarys do? Ice cold the car sounds fine but after a few minutes a loud ticking sound develops. I researched possibilites of the sound and I already had my entire valvetrain replaced as well as bronze guides put into the heads. My timing cover is leaking, so i figured id put in new primarys to see if thats the problem.
Just trying to cover all my bases while its apart. The TC guides looked fine when I had my motor out so I dont think its that, but would it be a good idea to replace the primary chains as well? (car has 48k on it) Any input is appreciated, Thanks.
