Price for gears installed?

Just curious to what people have been paying or quoted to have their gears installed. Bought some 3.73's about a week ago and about to have them installed. Thanks.

That's pretty cheap for parts and labor.

Above all else make sure the installer knows what they're doing.

That is just for Labor. Average labor rates here is $100/hour.

I could be mistaken because I haven't had a gear change in an 8.8 done in about 8 years, but it doesn't take 6 hours to crack open the pumpkin, remove old gears and install new ones, then seal the pumpkin back up. Why is it taking them this long to do this?

I was a Ford tech and the repair manual does call for around 6 hrs. I've done many and sure some take less time but 6 hrs is not unreasonable.

I bought my gears for $169, the '13 bearing for $79 from Tousley and had installed for $450.

This is more in line for install price on 8.8 gears that I was used to.
