A guy I know recently swapped a 5.4 into his 98 GT. Im not exactly sure what year it is, but at first he claimed it was a Lightning engine minus the eaton. His brother later told me he was full of sh!t and that it came out of a junk yard F150. Im just curious what the ratings are for the motor. An L motor without the SC would make less power due to lower compression right???

He has a few boltons on it as well, intake, TB, plenum, midpipe back exhaust and some 4.10 gears.

First generations were about 225hp. That would be 1997 and possibly 1998. By 99 they had the PI package and power rose to 260hp and something like 350-360ft lbs. They ran very well in the F series and should run very well in the much lighter and aerodynamic Mustang...even stock.

The car runs ok. Its definitely faster than the old non-pi 4.6 it used to have, but it isnt mind blowing or anything. He runs dead even with his brothers 97 Cobra with the same mods. He thinks his T45 5speed is about to take a dump though. Im guessing because of all that extra torque. Thats impressive.

Yep, the 5.4 has a very flat torque curve with good pull throughout the rpm range.
