guys what do you think i will gain out of my set of world windsor jr's:shrug:

My mods are 289 ci bored .030

KB flat tops
comp magnum 280h cam
1.5 in long tubes
victor jr intake
holley 600 carb(street) edelbrock 750 (race)

Car weighs 2600lbs its a 1966 coupe

All this was on a set of stock heads with just a valve job. What do you think i should gain with my jr's? I gasket matched the intake ports to a felpro 1262 gasket, and the exhaust ports to a 1415 gasket. I also ported up the openings a bit and cleaned the bowls a bit. Im sure these will be an improvement over stock heads. I always felt a restriction with my stock heads and am in the process of getting these heads finished up. I can say that the stock ports are wimpy compare to my finished jr's.

Any thoughts

I ran a very similar setup.. my first 289 build had box stock world Jr's, vic jr intake, 650 dp holley, flat tops, and 1.5 ford racing headers. but my cam was different, pretty sure bigger than the mag280. it was .530/.550 lift, 240/250 duration at .050... man that setup ran hard. I ran a 125 shot on it, never in the 10's like that but low 11's at 125 mph.. I ran a close ratio toploader, 4.57 gear and a 26x8 slick. car weighed 3000+ with me in it..

after that engine blew I went with small dome pistons and a big comp drag cam,.600 lift and 260 durration. that setup dyno'd 371 to the rear tire N/A and 570 with a 300 shot.. I ran it the 10's with a 200-225 shot but it was skating everyhwere on a set of et streets.. never could keep a clutch in it with the 300 shot. now it has a custom cam, bigger headers and a auto trans, it dynoed 300 at 6000 rpm's to the tires through a 8 inch 3500 stall converter.. My dyno guy doesnt believe the engine starts to make power at 6000 and shifts close to 8000...still has 7 of the original rods and a 260 crank in a mex block. tuff 289, and its no fluke...

I run the 280h in my 306 w afr 185s, rpm intake, 575 mighty demon, 1.7s, 1 5/8" n 3" collectors. I haven't dynoed it yet but it pulls hard and my machinists says the 280h cam should like nitrous alot w the spec sheet on it. He says the 1.7s take the .512 total lifts to like a .546 or .547. He says they increase duration as well but he says its hard to say exactly how much w/out putting calipers on it.

Remember to check rocker to valve geometry. I used pro magnum 1.7s and I had to turn the trunnion around for the valve geometry to line up. No one really told me about the trunnion and I can vouch after 8 or 9 valve guides and valves and a piston replacement.:cuss: :fm: :mj: :xpl: Your valve geometry is very important. I kno this is a lil of the subject but wanted to warn ya if you decided to go w bigger rockers.

To the real subject at hand anyway. I've got a friend w a 306 w windsor jr's or sr's, vic jr. intake, proform 650, anderson stage 2 nitrous cam, and 1 5/8" n 3" collectors. His runs like 7.8s or 7.9s in 8th and 6.40s w a 125 and 6.29 w 150 shot. He port matched his to the gaskets. Maybe this is a lil helpful for ya.

We both have C4 auto fox bodies that wiegh round 3000. He has 3.73s and I have 4.10s. I just haven't a way to get to the track w/o driving there or I'd have some #'s for ya. Car isn't reliable enough or really gained enough trust to b a daily just yet. Still having electrical problems and a money problem at the moment.
