Saw my first one up close last night in the parking lot at our local hockey rink. Anyone have 1st-hand experience against them, or care to speculate?

That car has got to be scarey fast. As light as the 911 already is and having 380 HP. Damn.. I would almost pay the 6 diget price tag. NOT!! I would not turn it down if someone gave it to me though.

I remember Car and Driver doing a short take on this car. I can't remember a 1/4 mile time but I believe the car trapped at almost 120.

well if you want your ass handed to you, go for it...

but on the plus side, I beat a regular carrera 2 vert on Tuesday am.

Pissed that Doctor off too. lol

I love Porsches. The GT3 is like the cobra of 911s.

I would imagine a Cobra in the 450/450 (+) range would be just as fast from a straight line roll. It seems like the majority of those cars trap right around the 120 +/- a few. The Cobra is just way too fat and really needs a diet to make it really haul ass. No telling what a GT3 with a couple of mods would do.

How does the GT3 compare with the Turbo? Is the Turbo no longer top dog over at Porsche? I see a ton of Turbos here, have yet to see a GT3.

Haven't seen a GT3 but I do see this GT2 from time to time, but never while in my Cobra.

GT2 is faster than GT3 and quite a bit more too.
Only had camera phone with so pic isn't great.

I remember reading about the GT3 recently in Automobile and the article clearly said ALMOST as fast as the GT2 but a lot loess money, you could practically buy a GT3 + regular 911 for price of GT2

Automobile - GT3
Porsche 911 GT3

Price: $100,665
Power: 375 hp @ 7400 rpm
Torque: 284 lb-ft @ 5000 rpm
0-62 mph: 4.5 sec
Top speed: 190 mph

Automobile GT2
Porsche 911 GT2

Price: $182,465
Power: 456 hp @ 5700 rpm
Torque: 457 lb-ft @ 3500 rpm
0-62 mph: 4.0 sec
Top speed: 195 mph

At least according to Automobile Magazine the GT2 is faster by 1/2 second to 62MPH and has a higher top speed.

You cant really complain about a porsche... my parents have a 96 non turbo carrera and that thing is ridiculously fast with 290 horse... The $$$ is outrageous though...

Holy f*. I just took a look at the Porsche website and has anybody ever seen a Carrera GT? This thing is instane it has 605 hp and weights 3,042 lbs. So that car makes as much HP as I do and weights at least 900 Ibs less.

I saw it upclose at the NY Autoshow and it is unreal, a serious work of art.

Another interesting fact is it weights 89 Ibs lighter then a GT2 and has 128 more HP.

Here are the specs for the Carrera GT
Top track speed 205 mph (330 km/h)
0-60 mph 3.8 secs
0-62 mph 3.9 secs
0-124 mph 9.9 secs
50-75 mph 4.0 secs (in fifth gear)
Quarter mile 11.4 secs

I really don't think the numbers do a car like this justice. An 11.4 time in the 1/4 mile probably doesn't tell the whole story. I think the Ferrari FX did a 1/4 mile in the 11 second bracket but trapped in the 130+ range. From a roll I think the 11.4 time is a lot faster than what you would think.
