Popular Mechanics has a spy photo of the "Terminator"
at:

http://www.popularmechanics.com/cgi-bin/spy.pl?cat=det

According to the photo caption, the "Terminator" (a) will be
the new Cobra, (b) will have 400+hp, and (c) will retain the
DOHC V8 and add a blower to it. No mention is made
whether the rear end will remain IRS or go back to live-axle.
(Some posters have commented that the IRS is not strong
enough to handle 400hp.)

Visually the car appears to be similar to the current Cobra,
with blacked-out wheels and a front-to-rear bulging hood
somewhat like the 1968 Shelby, with twin/functional air
scoops midway.

Ford Motor Company has decided to cancel planned production of the 2002 Mustang Cobra "Terminator" and build it as a 2003 model dubbed "Cobra Special" instead. The "Terminator" moniker was dropped because the name may depict too much violence.

Too bad Ford got wussy about the name. I was looking
forward to driving up next to a Hell's Angel in a car
with that nameplate and saying in an Austrian
accent, "I need your clothes and your bike.":coolman:
