Hi Guys,

I just have a couple of questions regarding compression ratio choice for a new
motor..
My current setup 03 mach1 stock internals with a D1 making 481/440, now
that I've had a taste of power I want more so I'm looking to get an Aluminator
long block and sell my stock motor before I grenade it.

I've searched all the Aluminator threads here , and I just have one big question.
Which C/R would I choose to go with my D1 and why?
Aluminator options are 8.5:1 or 10.1:1
I've read here that centri's are a good match with higher C/R motors, but can
the same power or more be made with a lower C/R?
Looking to put 650hp or so to the wheels...

Is it the crap internals of the stock mach1 or the high C/R that hurts most with
a blower or both?

Thanks for any help you can give me......

I say go with the 8.5:1 if you are going to be running boost. The higher compression mixed with none forged internals in your stock Mach motor make it more suseptable to grenading.

I agree, but it is the new motors C/R that I'm asking about, I am wondering
if 10:1 will work better with my D1 or am I better off at 8.5:1 Looking to put
650 or so to the wheels

Lower compression is safer in the long run. Higher compression and you're just asking for trouble. It's really a no brainer.

I meant go 8.5:1 on the new aluminator. The lower compression just handles boost better, and is typically safer for avoiding detonation. Higher compression, like on your current motor, greatly increases the chance of grenading.
