pinion angle

So after installing my jlp shackles, I get a 20-30mph vibration even after the 180 shim rotation. I read all the threads on measuring, and checking mine it looks like -1 on the pinion and 5 on the shaft. Spicer recommends an operating angle of not more then 3 degrees, and I'm at 6.

My questions are:
1)What angle are the stock shims? So I can order the right ones. Or can I get away with removing it to compensate.

2)Are my measurements accurate. Basically I took a protractor guage with a needle and measure on the edge of the ujoint knuckles, like this but rotated to clear the yoke housing.

3)Spicer also says the pinion angle should not be greater then 0, and I need 2 degrees in the positive. Am I reading this correct? How can this be adjusted?

I also tried measuring the trans yoke and it came out to +1, which makes it parrallel.

Here's the protractor I used. It was all I could find that would sort of fit onto the knuckle. I guess I could still pull the driveshaft to check it more accurately.

That sucks. Picked up a 4 degree shim, only one they have a the suspension shop, and the hole is too big for the bolt. The head won't sit in the leaf after tightening.

Looks like I'll be putting the stock shackles back on till I can find the right parts. Not worth blowing out a u-joint or pinion seal/bearing when everythings still brand new.

I removed my shims completely with the JLP set at the lowest setting.

Think I might try that in the mean time, since I will have to take these ones back. But by my calculations, if the shim flip didn't work, no shim would only split the difference, and its vibrating on deceleration, meaning the pinion is sitting to low.

Just removed the shim and got back from the test. That's a big no go. 20mph vibration from idling and decel.

This confirms the very reason why I don't like doing modifications to something that already is good. Friends and family think I'm crazy for touching it.

Just use some tape to hold the shims in place until you bolt the springs into place. The U bolts will hold the shims in place, the size of the hole doesn't mater.

I can't help but think the carriage bolt head adds extra insurance for preventing the leaf pack from shifting off the perch. I want it closest to original setup as stock, just with it being lower.
