And thats y they don't say GT 40 now because of the rights on the "GT 40" name, I could be wrong but I could swear I heard that.

You are right the Gt 40 name was bought by a company who makes replicas so in order to have had the gt 40 on the car ford would of had to have bought the name back, so they just put ford gt

What size wheels are those on the fastback. i'm looking to buy some new magnum 500's for mine but am wondering how much room i'd have with 15 in rims

g.t-40's in the 60's were called "40" due to the height. 40 inches from the ground to the roof.

the new ones are 44 inches high due to bumper regs thats why they dont call them the gt-40. ford toyed with the idea of calling it the gt-44 but it didn't sound quite right to them thus dropping the 44.

btw most street versions of the gt-40 in the 60's also said "ford gt" on the side.
